sofasitters (2001)

Sofasitters ‘maquettes’ from 2001. These typify traditional or conventional sculpture where the creativity comes early on, fashionioning small models which are then probably factored up in size in a chosen medium – a longer and less creative part of the job. I can remember now the patinated lefthand study being created at the Frink School with a particular large wood block in mind which latterly became Family of Man. through a first-try at an unpreconceived improvisational route.
